The First International Conference on the Histories of Taiwan and Asian Cinema will be held on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 in the Arts and Activities Complex Building

The focus of the annual international conference this year will be “the film wars of 1930s and 1940s", mainly between China and Japan. Scholars from the U.S., Japan, Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan will give either keynote speeches or deliver their papers on how the governments of China and Japan used film as a medium for propaganda purpose before and during the Asia-Pacific War.

Hong Kong Documentary “Yellow Umbrella" to be screened at Movie Theater on Oct. 22

Yellow Umbrella, an 80-minute documentary on the civil unrest taking place in Hong Kong beginning in September last year and lasted for 79 days, will be screened 7:00 pm Oct. 22 (Thur.) in the Movie Theater located on the 3rd floor of the Arts & Activities Complex Building. All are welcomed to attend the screening and the Q&A session held afterwards by the filmmakers from Hong Kong .


The 7th Kuan-Du Film Festival Opens on Oct. 2 with Two Feature Films

Focus of this year’s Kuan-Du Film Festival is the Great Britain and the London Film School. The festival will also screen selected films from 2014 Hong Kong Fresh Wave Film Competition as well as student films from local film schools and, of course, TNUA’s own film students.

The 7th Kuan-Du Film Festival is held from Oct. 2 to Oct. 9 in the Movie Theater located on the 3rd floor of the Arts and Activities Complex Building.

Two Graduate Students are Selected for Competition in the Short Film Category of This Year’s Golden Horse Awards

Both CHEN Jian-chang, majoring in screenwriting, and Grace LEE Hwai-chin, majoring in film producing, each has a short film in competition in the Golden Horse Awards to be held in November. Congratulations!


Four Graduate Program Alumni Won Awards in the 2015 Golden Bell Television Awards

A total of 10 prizes were awarded to four alumni of the Graduate Program of the Department of Filmmaking, Hank TSENG Han-hsien (producing), HSU Rong-Rong, HSU Fu-hsiang, and LAI Meng-rong, in this year’s Golden Bell Television Awards, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
